A little bit about me....
To start off I am so excited to now have a blog and a place to display my speech materials. I also am looking forward to sharing any new exciting adventures in speech pathology that come my way as I begin my career.
Ahh education. Well I received my Bachelor's Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from South Carolina State University in 2011. I began working that summer at a school district in my hometown up until January of 2012. I began my graduate work in August of 2011 at SC State (Go Bulldogs), and after working 40+ hours per week then driving an hour to school 3 days a week, I decided it would be in my best interest to concentrate on my graduate work so I left the school system to join a WONDERFUL Speech Pathologist in her outpatient practice as an SLP-A where I have been working for the past 16 months.
Well, May has come and gone and I received my Masters Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. I also accepted a position for a school district in Spartanburg, SC where I will be moving there soon and starting work in the fall.
SO not only am I moving to a new city and starting a new job but I will also be getting married in September! My fiance actually proposed to me the weekend of the South Carolina Speech Hearing Association Convention last February!
If you are wondering why I chose Speech Pathology as my career path, all I can say is that I love working with children, I have that bubbly personality that attracts kids for some reason, and I just love creating new things to challenge and creative activities to have fun with the kids.
I don't know yet what my specialty is but I do enjoy literacy and I plan on making plenty of literacy based activity units. There is also so much you can so with language. I hope to discover my passion soon.
Hope this was informative!
